Turkey and Souffle

We ate no turkey on Thanksgiving. Not that we didn't eat. We dined at the Boonville Hotel with Johnny Schmitt and his folks and friends and family. Johnny's mom, Sally, started the now famous French Laundry some 30 or so years ago. She made cauliflower and black truffle souffle. Johnny did a cassoulete and we enjoyed those courses and some cheese, some fresh crab (with two aiolis: saffron and arugula) and the traditional pies. Also drank a ton of wine. Fun night, one not to be forgotten.

We also visited Lazy Creek Winery, where Lilli rode a swing with Grey Chandler (son of owner/winemaker, Josh) and she got to feed a horse and see a chicken lay an egg. Other highlights of the weekend: hanging with Doug and Anna Stewart at Breggo Winery and seeing Arky and Checca out at the Brewery Gulch Inn. They made us a turkey on the BBQ.

Next year I'm hoping to hunt a turkey with Josh Chandler at Lazy Creek. Should be fun.
